The hummingbird legend and watercolor painting
Learn about the ancient legend of the Maya God and the hummingbird.
Start by transferring sketches of the Maya God and the hummingbird on watercolor papers, tracing the design with a pencil, with the help of the carbon paper.
Color the drawings with watercolor paints and write down the legend in Spanish.
Corn and its relationship with the Maya calendar
The Maya peoples reflected the close connection between the Sun and corn in one of their several calendars: the Tzolk'in calendar. This calendar marked the dates to plant and harvest corn.
In this project, you'll learn about the main Maya calendars and will have a guided tutorial on how to draw and color corncobs, using watercolors.
